You know, now, at the end of 2014, I want to say something nice. Something good about the difficult but successful 2014, with its “CRIMEANASH”, national unity, the release of Alien Isolation and Valiant Hearts. I would like to, but, unfortunately, it’s not like that. Unfortunately, we are all in the deepest..
But let’s look at this year from the very beginning. How was it?
With you Press Start and a special issue: Gamediz Analytics or Results of the Year.
I wanted to call this section Sofa or Gaydiz Analytics, but somehow it didn’t work out.
So, January.
Russia and Ukraine, and the whole world, look to the future with optimism. Economies are growing (almost everyone), Russia boasts of modernization in everything, Ukraine is all about being Independent and even though a revolution has begun, there are hopes for a happy and carefree future.
And in the gaming camp everything was more than optimistic. In the fall, a whole bunch of great games were released, a new generation of consoles, and promises to release a new Batman, The Witcher 3, the third part of Dragon Age and a ton of other things. Meanwhile, January was stingy with releases and the only worthwhile ones I can remember are the superbly drawn The Banner Saga (the continuation of which was just recently announced), and Secrets of Raetikon, which came out… strange.
And if January was simply a departure from a successful autumn, then February Already pleased us with the first transfers.
Divinity: Original Sun moved to the summer, and Behind Enemy Lines: Assault 2 predictably moved forward a month. But these were, in essence, minor transfers. In the end, good Castlevania: Lord of Shadow 2 came out, and a vigorous PvZ: Garden Warfare. Almost everyone was in high spirits. Unless the President of Ukraine was for some reason not happy, and television began to catch up with clouds. And these television clouds slowly but surely moved towards ordinary people, making their way into the camp of our favorite games.
Color of the year – March.
Probably the best month of the year. Out: fun South Park, peppy Titanfall, hardcore Dark Souls 2, a little more than a demo of MGS 5: Ground Zeroes, Another Finale and, so far, the main exclusive for PS4 – InFamous: Second Son (with Troy "The Baker", about which in a separate article), also Age of Wonders, which I have not tried. In addition, news about the imminent release of The Witcher, Batman. Well, Crimean. Good news at least for the residents of Crimea and Russia (at that time). And nothing foreshadowed trouble..
Sometimes things don’t go https://chancescasino.co.uk/games/ according to plan. Happens. Sometimes, even in this case, you manage to do something worthwhile. Sometimes. And there were some good games this month. Child of Light, for example. Well, there were some relatively good ones: warlock and Wargame, for example. Yes, there were games based on licenses, but they turned out so-so… The rest turned out to be nothing like Daylight and The Elder Scrolls Online failed. Thank God there was an outlet in the form of Goat Simulator, that’s who, and the developers of this game really knew how to make the player have a blast.
Parade in Crimea. First problems on the political front. Mutual sanctions and the magnificent Wolfenstein: The New Order. And besides him there is only transistor. Watch_Dogs began a series of disappointments (after its own transfer, don’t think there’s anything in it?).
Generally a strange month. Firstly 100 years since the beginning of the First World War. And of those standing on the cultural front, only Valiant Hearts: The Great War was noticed. And in general, most of the festivities were somehow not festive. A painful expectation of a solution to the conflict between the West and the East (us, for that matter) flowed from the zombie box. It’s been a tough month. But it was at the end of it that I wrote the first review in a long time, which laid the foundation for our own collective association – Press Start (so we are six months old tomorrow, s)) ). In addition, the slightly more remarkable Sniper Elite 3 (which I still want to try), and GRID Autosport, which is not cake at all, came out.
The most useless month in the gaming industry. Re-releases of The Last of Us, Oddworld and a couple of other games have been released. It’s worth saying that the year, in principle, was generous with reissues. Everything else is dull trash of varying degrees of severity. In the same month, we begin to prepare our release, which temporarily blocked the work of blogs (it’s worth saying thanks to the moderators and Loev personally for resolving the problem, because there is something for it). The month was significant for me personally for many things, but more on that in the comments)
You know, if it’s tough, then right away. The sanctions wars are already in full swing, Ukraine ceases to love Russia completely. War in Donbass. Failed Sacred 3 and Risen with the same number. Metro Redux and Wastland 2. Posts about “Dying Blogs” are becoming a trend in SG and are written by everyone and anyone who is not too lazy. Even those who have just registered, because that’s how it is.
Schoolchildren return from vacation, blogs come to life, but posts about “Umirant” do not go away. It was a bad month. The Sims 4 is almost a failure, Meridian is almost a failure, Styx is not exactly an outstanding game, Destiny is also not a good start. Yes, there was the graphic Ethan Carter, and the first quite successful Sherlock. But this is all for, in general, usually a prosperous month. Suspicions that the year will be unsuccessful are already visiting the gloomy mind of your humble servant and many others.
We are already working hard on Zone-17 and The Cursed Forest, and we are negotiating with West Games (about what is here), so there are fewer and fewer articles from us and more and more from SG. Almost none of the released ones have been completed, since there are many games, but not all are successful. And here it’s worth saying more about each game, because:
Shadow of Mordor – everyone was scared of the demands, but then they got involved. Assassin in a new way and the universe was successful, but was remembered as just a good game.
Alien Isolation – the first pancake came out as a xenomorph. Review coming soon, so I’ll just say that I liked the game.
DriverClub – launch failure.
The Evil Within is about practically nothing.
Legend of Grimrock 2 – still the same, but cooler. And others… average or controversial games. That F1 2014, which came out neither fish nor fowl, that NBA 2K15, which was just a graphic artist (yes, I just didn’t really understand the controls, it seems wooden to me), that a new civilization, which is not very new. All of them were, again, quite good, but not outstanding. And we all hold our breath, waiting for November. Months of really big games.
This was our Pearl Harbor. It was a stab in the back. I don’t know what else you can call it. It seemed like an ordinary month, but only at the beginning. We lost to no one knows who and how.
The start was good. On the morning of this month a new Code was released… Which was good, but could not reach the box office. And then the nightmare began: Assassin’s Creed Unity – a failure, Escape Dead Island – almost a failure, It is unclear why Isaac was released, no longer the LittleBigPlanet 3 cake, not at all the same A bird Story, which was remembered as a strange parable game, although they expected from it no less than To the moon 2. Far Cry 4 seemed to help out. But he did not escape problems at the start. Even though Dragon Age: Inquisition came out… and then the currency fell. Just like that, in a week or two, we became almost 2 times poorer. And every day it got worse and worse (brrr, gtx 980 for 45 thousand rubles, and before it cost no more than 30, in just a couple of weeks). It was a disaster. They even started talking about switching Steam to dollars, but it didn’t work out.
The currency continued to fall. We expected the worst. People bought what they could at the autumn sale and waited for the winter. And now Winter has come! And with it only an updated module for Star Citizen, a new Elite, and The Crew. Let’s add episodic stories from TellTale, two of them. Sparsely. Thank God the ice stopped and went back. Currency is now 50. And yesterday it was Catholic Christmas.
And even if the year is not over yet, even if there are a couple of days left before the end of the year. You can already say that the year has been difficult.
We can already say that it was a year of postponements and disappointments. Year of sanctions and annexation of Crimea. A year of failed ideas and projects. It’s been a tough year, but we made it through. Almost.
But the results have not yet been summed up. Not yet. All that remains is to dot the t’s and determine the winners in our categories.
Game of the Year: South Park Stick of Truth
In general, boys. Maza is there. My friend Seryoga approached me with such a sickly proposal – come on, dear man, write your opinion about the game of the year. And I was like, why not, the guy speaks his mind. So I sat down in my favorite front door, put a newspaper on the steps so that the children would be born healthy, I sit with my hat on, I clink the sunflower seeds and think. That’s what I thought guys. Game of the year, no bazaar, for me – South Park. Surprisingly, the guys from Obsidian Entertainment made a game. The cat cried for such smooth and beautiful adaptations of famous franchises. You can count it on your fingers. Approximately as long as a sucker’s cell phone lasts. That is, very little. They conveyed the spirit of the series, a bunch of references and other crap that is common among you intellectuals. LoL! For me personally, if we ignore the time frame, the current year has passed under the shadow of the PS 3. Stuck in Gran Turismo 5 for two months, and then I discovered Sony platformers. Puppeteer – a very interesting, two-dimensional platformer, with a cool idea, cool games about Sly Cooper. Raccoon thief is a brilliant idea. I’m going through Ratchet and Clank right now. That’s why Jack and someone else didn’t roll me in. This is probably the year I will remember. There were a lot of events. In general, have a happy New Year and walk at night with valuables. Otherwise I need to give more gifts)
Asher96 Game of the Year: Unified State Exam 2014: farewell to school students.
Yes, this year has ended, which can safely be called the first year of nextgen. This only makes me, like a true peka-boyar with a console from the end of the last decade, come into incredible pain. New releases poured in like from a cornucopia, but the most important thing was the June drama of the Unified State Exam 2014: farewell to a school student. This is a truly vital and emotional story with a lot of plot twists that will not leave anyone indifferent. The lack of locations in it is easily compensated by its long duration. This is the real GAME OF THE YEAR, if not the five-year plan.
No matter how much we see this year, it’s almost gone. Memories left from him are funny and sad, dark and light. The main thing is that at the end of the year, in the family circle, we do not remember anything bad and share the good. After all, holidays, no matter what, should remain holidays. Have a successful new year and peaceful skies above your head!
PS. New Year – time for gifts. Therefore, we are giving 2 games to random people in the comments, two more who sent their version of Press Start, or who drew cartoons of the authors, will also receive a prize. And two more will receive a prize for offering the most unusual nomination.
